How to make Golden Milk
Turmeric is one of the most amazing spices and has been used in cooking and Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. It has strong protective and anti-inflammatory properties and can make all the difference to your health and wellness.
One of the best (and most delicious!) ways to use turmeric is to drink it in Golden Milk. Golden milk combines turmeric and other spices to make a warm and flavoursome tea. You can drink Golden Milk at any time of the day, but it is a really comforting drink at the end of the day, when you are winding down.
Golden Milk is easy to make at home! I would love to share my favourite Golden Milk recipe with you so that you can enjoy it too!
Easy Golden Milk Recipe
1 cup of non-dairy milk (you can use coconut milk, almond milk, rice milk, soya milk or any homemade nut milk. I prefer the nut milks, but really, any milk is fine!)
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder (NB - ONLY use non-irradiated turmeric!)
1 teaspoon of coconut oil
1 large pinch of freshly ground black pepper (black pepper is an important ingredient as it helps with the absorption of the turmeric)
Large pinch of ground cardamom. You can also add ground cinnamon as well as or instead of the cardamom.
1/2 - 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger according to your ginger taste index!
Raw organic honey to taste added at the end (optional)
Blend all ingredients except the honey together and simmer on the stove for about 15 minutes (DO NOT boil!). Remove from the stove and stir in the honey to taste.
ENJOY!
