How To Apply Henna Powder To Hair

Mix approximately half a cup of henna with strong rooibos or ceylon tea, coffee or red wine. This is said to help soften the intense red colour of the henna however you may need to add more henna, depending on the length of your hair. f you use water instead, never use boiling hot water.

Apply the paste to one strand of hair and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Wash (with only water, no shampoo) and blow-dry to gauge the colour intensity before applying it to your whole head. 

How To Use Henna Powder For Nail Art And Tattoos

Add two teaspoons of instant coffee to about 1 1/2 cups of water and mix well. Place in a pot and boil until it reduces to about a 3/4 cup of dark liquid.

Sift out approximately 1 1/4 cups of dry red henna powder and mix just enough coffee liquid into the henna powder to create a thick paste. The hot liquid will make the powder ball up a little, so be sure to mix it into a well-blended and smooth paste. Add about two teaspoons of lemon juice to the paste. 

Add approximately five drops each of Eucalyptus Oil and Clove Oil, and mix well. This should make a thin paste, without being runny. If it is too runny, add a little more sifted henna powder. If it is too thick, add a little more concentrated coffee liquid, or plain water. Allow the paste to settle and cool for about two hours.
